Our Wine Making

Prior to our 2003 vintage, we were solely grape growers and sold our grapes to Peregrine and Nevis Bluff wineries, and indirectly to Gibbston Valley Wines and Quartz Reef wineries. The wines made wholly, or in part of our grapes received a number of awards under these labels.

The vintage of 2004 was a very challenging year due to damaging frosts that sorely affected the valley. In this same year we made our decision to process our grapes under our own label.

We produce 1500 - 3000 cases of wine a season, depending on growing conditions, and are planning to grow to some 5000 cases at most, a rather small volume in comparison to most wineries.

We aimed at efficient processing by traditional means, for the production of premium, quality wine.

Any interventions that are necessary are completed on the basis of knowledgeable use. Wherever possible we use no animal products in processing our wine. Our wines are subject to limited filtration. Our flagship Pinot Noir is unfined and unfiltered.

We at times have our wines processed or grapes sourced from friends in other boutique wineries.
